You know just how messy your bathroom can become. It doesn’t take long for towels to pile up, soap scum to build, and toothpaste streaks to find their way to your bathroom mirror. Because bathrooms are such a high-traffic area, it’s not uncommon for them to get dirty fast.

Knowing how to deep clean the bathroom properly will ease some of the stress you may have surrounding the cleanliness of the room. Deep cleaning a bathroom is much more than simply wiping down the counters and scrubbing the toilet. This type of bathroom cleaning involves targeting every inch of the entire space.

In the guide below, you’ll discover everything you need to know about cleaning a bathroom. Continue reading to learn more!

Dust Everything First

You want to start by dusting everything. Remove all dust, dirt, and hair before you start cleaning to prevent yourself from spreading it around. You should start by dusting the ceiling and exhaust fan first.

Then, work your way down by dusting the walls and countertops. When done, you can vacuum or sweep the floors as well.

Declutter All Areas

Now you’ll want to declutter all areas in the bathroom. Start by removing any empty shampoo and conditioner bottles and organizing the shower or bathtub. Then, declutter and organize the countertop, under the cabinet, and in any other bathroom storage area as well.

Throw away anything that’s expired or empty and empty out the trash.

Clean From Top to Bottom

Once you’re ready to get your cleaning products out, clean from top to bottom. Start by wiping down the walls and then the countertops. You can use white vinegar or soap scum remover on the shower tiles and grout.

Don’t forget to remove any hard water stains from your showerhead. You can do this by letting it soak in white vinegar for several minutes before rinsing it off and installing it back onto the wall.

Mold or mildew in the shower or bathtub can be treated with bleach. If bleach doesn’t remove the mold or mildew stains on the caulking, then you can simply remove the caulking and replace it. This is a fairly simple process.

Be sure to wipe both the inside and outside of the toilet with disinfectant. You want to get around the base of the toilet as well.

Wipe down the inside of your sink and spray all mirrors with glass spray. The last area you want to tackle is the floor.  You can mop the floors to finish the task.
