Heres a little about DeSoto, TX.
Desoto, Texas is a suburb of Dallas with a rich history that dates to the mid-19th century. The area where Desoto is located was first settled in the 1840s by European-American pioneers. The city was officially founded in 1949, when residents voted to incorporate the area as a city. At the time, Desoto had a population of around 400 people and was primarily a farming community.
In the years that followed, Desoto began to grow and develop. During the 1950s and 1960s, the city saw a significant increase in population as people moved to the area in search of affordable housing and job opportunities. Many of the new residents worked in nearby Dallas and commuted to and from the city each day.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Desoto continued to grow and modernize. The city built several new schools, parks, and other amenities to accommodate the growing population. In 1988, the city opened the Desoto Civic Center, a multi-purpose venue that hosts a variety of events and performances.
Today, Desoto is a thriving community with a diverse population of around 50,000 people. The city is home to several major corporations, including Solar Turbines, Stryker Communications, and Charmer Sunbelt Group. In recent years, Desoto has also become known for its vibrant arts scene, with several local galleries, theaters, and performance spaces.

- Desoto is home to the only elected African-American female mayor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Mayor Rachel Proctor was elected to the position in May 2021.
- The city has a strong arts scene, with several galleries, theaters, and performance spaces. One popular destination is the Corner Theatre, a community theater that hosts a variety of shows and events throughout the year.
- Desoto is home to several parks and green spaces, including Grimes Park, which features a playground, picnic areas, and a walking trail.

- The Desoto Veterans Memorial is a tribute to the men and women who have served in the military. The memorial features a sculpture of an eagle, as well as plaques honoring veterans from all branches of the military.
