Heres a little about DeSoto, TX.

Desoto, Texas is a suburb of Dallas with a rich history that dates to the mid-19th century.  The area where Desoto is located was first settled in the 1840s by European-American pioneers. The city was officially founded in 1949, when residents voted to incorporate the area as a city. At the time, Desoto had a population of around 400 people and was primarily a farming community.

In the years that followed, Desoto began to grow and develop. During the 1950s and 1960s, the city saw a significant increase in population as people moved to the area in search of affordable housing and job opportunities.
